When I first entered the business world after two years at Duke University, I asked my grandfather, who was retired from long and distinguished careers in professional baseball and the insurance business, what advice he would give me in order to be successful. His answer, which he wrote in a letter that I still have, provided the foundation for the values and guiding principles that I keep before me each and every day. Integrity - Always conduct yourself with integrity. Your word is your bond. Market Knowledge - Be more knowledgeable about your product than anyone else in the field.
